Team Spotlight - RI Boys
This week on Team Spotlight, we have defending champion Raffles Institution, boys captain – Zong Wei to share with us his team’s successful journey and story. We asked teams 3 simple questions and here is Zong Wei’s response…

What is your team’s slogan?
Our team slogan is RELAX LAH. We chose it to always remind ourselves to stay composed on court and not panic/feel pressured when the going gets tough during the match. Our team slogan also tells us to not speed up our thought processes by always thinking of the score line and the outcome of the match, but to relax, enjoy the moment and to always reflect on our actions on court. Being relaxed also allows us to regroup and refocus effectively on court if there is any distraction.
What values does your team uphold?
Our team's 3 core values are Teamwork, Respect and Discipline.
We believe that no matter what we do, we have to work as a team and our team is only as strong as our weakest link. No one should be left behind. Comradely spirit was very important and ours developed throughout the hard training sessions we had, as we learnt to have faith, walk hand in hand & fight together as one.
We learnt to respect each and every one of our team members, as well as our opponents. We believed that we should not only uphold sportsmanship at all times during the match by exemplifying fair play, we also wanted to give our best against every opponent played.
Discipline was important, especially during training as what we do during training will be brought over to matches. Being able to listen and adhere to Coach Jill's instructions was also very important for us to execute our play-ups and defend together as a unit.
Tell us one thing you and your team have learnt from this 2016 season?
We learnt to not put so much pressure on ourselves, by not thinking about the end goal but how we can enjoy the process together. At the end of the day it's about having fun with our friends and treasuring the moments we spend together.
Stay tune for next week Team Spotlight, it might just be your team....
