NSG Floorball Talent - Nicholas Chua

The 2016 National Schools Games is ongoing at the moment, and this year we have decided to feature and interview young and talented upcoming Floorball players in the school level. Many of our successful national Floorball players all started in their secondary school or even primary school. Thus, we believe that they are the next generation of Singapore Floorball.

These young talents are either recommended by their school Coaches or teachers, or have been identified by us. We will be featuring 2 players each week on our website and social media accounts.

​First up on our feature board is Nicholas Chua Wee Guan from Springfield Secondary School. Nicholas is 16 years old and have been playing Floorball for 4 years as a Forward. He is currently playing in Skools Innebandy, the 1st runner up of last year SFL Division 1. Nicholas added his experience with Skools Innebandy, “They saw my potential and gave me ample opportunities to develop and improve along with patient guidance from my club seniors.”

When I asked him “What does he like about Floorball?” he replied, “The intensity of the game.” Apart from Floorball, Nicholas also enjoys playing soccer and he even played for Balestier Khalsa FC last year.

Every athlete has his or her own idol, so does Nicholas. His Floorball idol is Adrian Lim, his floorball coach. He added, “He is a motivation to me and he motivated me in my journey. He is also the reason why I work so hard in Floorball so as long I don’t disappoint him and my teammates. Mr Lim gave me my big break when he introduced me to Skools Innebandy and his indelible mark on me shaped me into the player I am today."

Nicholas has just represented our Singapore Men’s Floorball team in the recent World Floorball Championship qualifiers held in Pattaya, Thailand. His impressive stickwork and shots has earned him a spot in the team, as we witness his play in the international level.
