Winners of Women's WFC 2015

After a week long of world class Floorball action, yesterday evening was definitely a night/evening worth staying home to just catch the world class Floorball action.

In the bronze medal match, it was a second time showdown between Switzerland and Czech Republic who finish 3rd & 4th in the previous WFC 2013 respectively. It was indeed an amazing and tight game between both side, with Czech Republic leading 1-0 going into the first period break. In the second period we saw the fighting Swiss fighting their way back with 3 goals, bringing the game back to them ending the second period with a score line of 3-1 in favor of the Swiss. In the third period, it was a showdown of who wants it more will win it. With the advantage in score, the Swiss continue to keep attacking and only managed to find the net once. The Czech girls was not frighten by the Swiss, they responded by scoring 3 consecutive goals, but it was too late. The game ended in favor of the Swiss with the score line of 5-4. Both teams remain in the current ranking.

Moving from the bronze medal match into the finals, it was no stranger to both teams as they have met numerous times in the WFC finals. It was showdown between host nation – Finland and the powerhouse Sweden.

Indeed, it was a neck-to-neck, end-to-end match. The game ended at 4-4, and 10 minutes of overtime still can’t find a winner. The winner of WFC 2015 will be decided on penalty, 5 penalty takers from each team. First round of penalty ended with the score of 1-1. It sudden death to determine who’s the winner, and Sweden finishes strong putting their 2nd sudden death penalty into the net and eventually bringing home the championship with them.

It was indeed, a week filled with lots of world class Floorball action. Singapore ladies team finishes 16th in this tournament moving up their world ranking by 4 ranks. Well done ladies. And that concludes WFC 2015, next year we have Men’s WFC 2016 that will be held in Latvia.
