Holiday in Krabi, Thailand....

As the title of today’s post says it all… Yes, holidaying in Krabi…

Krabi, on southern Thailand’s west coast, is a province characterized by craggy, sheer limestone cliffs, dense mangrove forests and more than a hundred offshore islands. The famed Phi Phi Islands, which look like giant rainforested boulders jutting from the sea, and Railay Beach, accessible only by boat and a favorite rock-climbing spot, are some of its most popular beach destinations.

Recently, about a month ago 13SS coaches embark onto a adventurous retreat to Krabi. And we checked ourselves into Ao Nang town, a central point of the coastal province of Krabi, Thailand. The town consists of main streets which are dominated by restaurants, pubs, shops more of a tourists spot. The main beach area of Ao Nang beach serves as a transit point to other beaches/island via the longtail boats.

The 4D3N retreat in the town of Ao Nang and Railey Beach saw our coaches overcoming their fears of heights and deep water through the activities. It was definitely a great experience in Krabi as we did activities such as real rock-climbing, abseiling down from mountain, cliff jumping and deep water-soloing.

The most memorable experience about the retreat to Krabi for Martha was “Deep water soloing.” She mention “I enjoyed the climb up but had wobbly legs and cold hands once I had to jump off.” The most enjoyable thing about the retreat for her was “Climbing the real rocks and being out there in the nature with fellow coaches. There was non-stop action and it was a fulfilling trip only because everyone was sporting and went with the flow despite their fears.”

The most enjoyable thing for Pris was “The rock climbing.” She added, “I felt that rock climbing is a sport that challenges individual to test one’s own limit. There were moments when I’m climbing and I felt that it was impossible to go on but yet it’s actually very possible. Whenever I complete one route, I feel a sense of achievement. Because I challenged myself.”

Jac shares her most memorable experience for the trip was “Cliff jumping, though I have done it before and I manage to climb higher than the previous time.” The most memorable experience for Stella was seeing people conquering their fears. She added, “Martha super good climber but afraid of cliff jumping but did it anyway. And also Angie and Leng doing abseiling..”

The most memorable experience for me was everything - rock climbing, cliff jumping and abseiling down from the cave. Through these activities, I have learned to overcome my fear and somehow conquer heights.

Jill share her experience about the trip with 13SS coaches – “Firstly, I love the people - all my crazy awesome 'gurang' coaches! Just seeing everyone sharing the love and looking out of one another. Putting others first. Secondly, seeing all challenging & conquering beyond their limits. How Angela conquer her fear of heights and Leng plucking up the courage to abseil down from the cave. And, the rest of the gang showing their rugged spirit. Indeed a team of coaches from all walks of life coming together as a unit. Advocating traits such as servant leadership, friendship and team spirit. Lastly, the carefree kampong ambience in Krabi - the simply refreshing beauty of nature, it's greenery and rock formations. Also the thai people and their authentic food.

If you have never been to Krabi, Thailand do consider putting it into your bucket list. It’s definitely a place worth exploring..
