Nina from Thailand Women's Floorball team share with us her SEA Games experience....

As we complete the interview with Team Malaysia, we now move on to feature Team Thailand. In my opinion, Thailand Floorball has created some history in the SEA Floorball scene, with merely just 6 months or less in preparation they has achieved a remarkable result in the 28th SEA Games. Definitely a team to lookout for in years to come.

We are privilege to be given this opportunity to interview Thailand Women’s Floorball Team captain – Nina Marianne Suppa. Nina is 32 years old. She have been playing Floorball for 21 years, she started playing in 1994. During the 28th SEA Games she make her international debut for Team Thailand. She is currently playing for FBC Lerum a club base in Sweden, and she plays in the forward position for both her club and country. When I ask Nina how did she feel when she know that she has been selected to represent Thailand in Floorball in the SEA Games, she replied – “Proud! Very grateful and thankful! It’s an honor to represent my country.” She added on sharing with us her experience in the SEA Games, “It’s better than I could ever imagine! I knew that Floorball is a great sport in Singapore, but it was even bigger than I had expected. The crowd made it so powerful. Everything was very professional.”

My team has been preparing for SEA Games for 6 months, they started preparation in December 2014. Preparation and training was done in both Thailand and South Korea. I joined my team in South Korea for the training trip, as I was recuperating from my pregnancy. Prior to SEA Games commence, few weeks before we head back to Thailand for our final preparation.

Going into 28th SEA Games, Nina set her personal goals as to share her personal experience of Floorball. She was determined to lead her team through the tournament with the best conditions they could have. Her “job” was to ensure that this would be the time of their life. Prior to SEA Games Nina and her team set themselves some goals to achieve, “Our goal was to at least win a medal, nothing less. We would not be satisfied without it. We went for the gold. But silver is very good to, given that the team had young players with lack of experience in Floorball. I could not be more proud of my team and my coach. We achieved one great goal, to get Floorball on the map in Thailand. Hopefully Thailand will continue with this sport in the future!"

The greatest moment for Nina was the being able to captain and lead the Thailand Women’s Team in the SEA Games. She added, “It’s a privileged and honour to be able to lead my team and help my teammates through this journey and to play Floorball with very skilled players was fun.” The greatest moment for my team would be the finals against Singapore, coming back to draw the game 3-3 and we continue to play great Floorball until the final whistle and even through the sudden death.

When I ask Nina to use 1 word that best describe her, she replied, “ In everything I do, I will give it 100%. Nothing more, nothing less. Whether it´s about sports, work, family, friends, hobbies or myself.”

With this entry, it marks the end of the SEA Games moment by athletes from different country I hope you have enjoyed this series…. Stay tune for more interesting updates..
