Coach Pris chase after simplicity
This month we had a short interview with - Priscilla Chia Xinni. She is one of the senior coaches in 13SS Coaching team. Friends and teammates address Priscilla as Pris in short. She has 12 years of playing experience as a center and forward and has 9 years of coaching experience as a Floorball coach.
Pris picked up Floorball in Nanyang Polytechnic while she was pursuing her Diploma together with her twin sister, Stella. The first impression Pris had for floorball was "super fast intensity and it looks fun". Pris's interest for Floorball has grew so much from CCA interest and learning new sports to a strong passion for the game.
She is currently playing for Albatross FC who competes in the ladies elite league in Singapore - SFL Division 1 as a center.
Pris truly believe a team or player should have the following values and she also explain the reason why she thinks it's important for student/teams/players to possess all these values:
1) Selflessness (Team first kind of mentality) - Because it's about meeting the team's needs and not individual needs. 2) Encouragement (Positivity mindset) - Because it's can bring life to all sports even in bad times. 3) Effort (Giving your best) - Because the team can use all the effort they can get to do well even when they are losing or facing any setbacks.
Pris thinks that it's more valueable when these values are translated directly into students' life because she believe whatever values one learn/gain can be applied in their life journey.
When I ask her to use one word that best describe her, she responsed "Simple, as I'm a very simple person. I enjoy simple things in life and like to take all things in its simplest form. If things gets too complicated I'll just have to take one step at a time."
